Nelson to go Down Under

Down Under Sports has announced that Caitlin Nelson of Petersburg was been invited to represent Nebraska on the 2019 volleyball team that will participate in Down Under tournament competition this summer.
Down Under Sports was founded in 1989 by New Zealand sports enthusiast George O’Scanlon. He started the Down Under Bowl for American football competition, which led to the Down Under Hoops Classic and Down Under International Games.
The Down Under sports programs use the common language of sports to bridge the continents and provide a forum for athletes from around the globe to compete head-to-head in the sport they love. During the past 30 years, Down Under Sports has had the opportunity to share the land down under with tens of thousands of individuals from across the United States. Nelson, a junior at Boone Central, will be the latest athlete from the Albion area to participate in the Down Under Sports program.
The 2019 Down Under Sports International Games will include competition in football, cheer, cross country, golf, track and field, basketball, volleyball and soccer, as athletes enjoy the culture, beauty and grandeur of the land down under within the framework of spirited and intense competition.
Each participant must raise money to cover the cost of the ten-day Australia Tournament Package. Fundraising is an important step to achieve the goal of competing on the international stage.
