Anderson qualifies for Class C state golf

High school golfers involved in district tournament play received one of the few breaks of the dreary Nebraska spring from Mother Nature Monday – and Boone Central senior Bradon Anderson took full advantage.
Anderson placed 10th in the C-2 District at Beemer’s Indian Trails Golf Club, not only winning a district medal, but qualifying for the 2019 Nebraska Class C State Golf Championships to be held May 21-22 at Meadowlark Hills Golf Course in Kearney.

Anderson fired an 88 over the 18-hole Indian Trails course, finishing in a tie with Yutan’s Joel Pleskac and slipping into the final medalist position.
Boone Central finished 9th in the 15-team field with a team total of 437. Oakland-Craig was the C-2 District champion, compiling a 335 team score. The Knights claimed four of the C-2 Top 10 medalist positions. David City (376) and Yutan (380) also qualified teams for the Class C state meet. Oakland-Craig junior Ian Lundquist shot a 77 to win C-2 gold medalist honors, finishing one stroke in front of Andrew Franzluebbers of Guardian Angels Central Catholic.
Anderson began the C-2 competition with a strong 42 on his front nine, then finished with a 46 on the back side of the round. Garret Niewohner shot 106 for the Cardinals. Caleb Kohl shot 119 and Kade Noble 124 to complete BC’s varsity score.
