A concert featuring top country performer Randy Houser, with special guest Jackson Michelson, will be the opening day highlight of the 2019 Boone County Fair on Saturday, July 6, at 7 p.m.
A wide variety of other events and attractions will make the 135th fair, one of the top fairs in the area. A full schedule is set for Saturday through Wednesday, July 6-10, at the fairgrounds in Albion.
Theme of this year’s fair is: “Yesterday’s Memories, Tomorrow’s Dreams.”
The second annual “Trucks R Fatty” truck and commemorative auto show will be from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday in the area west of the grandstand.
The 25th annual Boone County Fair Gun Show will be both Saturday and Sunday, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., at the Casey building.
Gates will open at 4:30 p.m. for the grandstand concert Saturday, and there is a clear bag policy. Concert begins at 7 p.m. About 1,500 seats were still available as of Friday, June 28.
If you’re looking for something new at this year’s fair, check out the following:
• Kids Power Wheel Races on Monday, July 8, 7:30 p.m. in front of the grandstand.
• Ryan Gothrup, a glass-blower, will bring his mobile glass studio to the fair Monday through Wednesday, July 8-10. Items he has created will be sold at auction in the grandstand Tuesday and Wednesday nights.
• Snowmobile races in July — on a dirt track — will be part of the grandstand show Monday, July 8, starting at 7:30 p.m.
• Big Air ATV Tour will perform their show for the first time in Boone County Tuesday, July 9, starting at 8 p.m. in front of the grandstand.

Saturday, July 6
Open class entry day will be Saturday. This will also be opening day for the 4-H and school artwork and antique tractor exhibits that will run throughout the fair. The dining hall will also be open 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. in the Event Center.
