Amsel Maricle Rosenbaum and 2R Farms of Albion were honored for 150 years of farm ownership during the 2019 Boone County Fair.
Amsel was honored with an Aksarben Heritage Farm award for the original Harvey Maricle farm, which was established in 1868.
The award to Mrs. Rosenbaum and 2R Farms was presented after the community worship service at the fairgrounds grandstand on Sunday morning, July 7.
Accompanying Amsel for the presentations were her daughter, Karen Smoyer of Springdale, AR, and her three sons, Walt, Harvey and Larry, all of Norfolk.
Each year, Aksarben honors families who have owned at least 40 acres of Nebraska farmland for 100 years (Pioneer Farm award) and for 150 years (Heritage Farm award). The Pioneer award was established in 1956, and nearly 10,000 of these awards have been presented since then. The Heritage award, started in 2014, has been presented to nearly 75 families.
