Boone Central senior Caitlin Nelson recently returned from an exciting, fun-filled trip to the Annual Down Under Games in Australia.
Nelson was among the volleyball players on six United States teams who competed in the 2019 Down Under Sports Tournament during a trip July 13-22. Her team, the Hawks, placed third of 16 overall teams in the final double-elimination tournament. Nelson and five other players also placed third in an informal sand volleyball tournament during the trip.
Along with the volleyball competition, Nelson made new friends and had a memorable experience enjoying the land Down Under. During several days of “free time,” Nelson was able to pet kangaroos, hold a koala, ride a small plane over the Great Barrier Reef and snorkel, among other activities.
