Boone Central has a very young, inexperienced basketball team.
On the opening weekend of the 2019-20 season, the Cardinals did indeed look like a young, inexprienced team.
Visiting Hartington Cedar Catholic defeated Boone Central 78-43 in Friday’s season opener and the Cardinals dropped a 60-27 decision at Lakeview Saturday afternoon.
“I thought we played really hard and aggressive Friday night. We had some good shots we should be able to finish,” said Boone Central Coach Justin Harris. “Saturday was rough from the start. We didn’t bring the same energy. I felt like if we played like we did Friday night, the outcome would have been much different.
“We have a lot of guys trying to find roles that will help the team be successful. I expect our learning curve to be great this year. We have many guys really experiencing varsity basketball for the first time.
“We need to learn from our mistakes to make sure we’re playing our best at the end of the year.”
