Ag & Education building estimated at 75% complete

INSTALLING ROOF PANELS — One of the jobs going on inside the arena of the new Boone County Agriculture & Education Center last week was installation of pre-formed concrete roof panels on the two wash racks. A top layer of concrete will be poured over these panels. The wash racks will double as storm shelters for the building. The roof panels weigh about 5,500 pounds each, and 15 panels were installed.
Construction progress at the new Boone County Agriculture and Education Center was estimated at 75 percent complete this week by Tracy Fuelberth, site foreman with Rathman-Manning Construction Co., the general contractor.
Concrete roof panels were installed on the arena wash racks last week. A two-inch poured concrete cap will be installed over these panels.
Lights are being installed in the arena area and painting is underway there this week.
In the north offices area, drywall work is mostly complete and painting is underway. Early this week, the suspended ceiling installation began, and epoxy floors were being installed. Restroom partitions and toilets were also being installed.
Fuelberth said construction progress is going well and the structure should be completed by the April 1 target date.
The center will be the site of the Memorial weekend “arama” livestock shows and Boone County Fair events in July.
Many additional events at this facility are expected to be booked.
