Commissioners authorize order for new county ambulance

Boone County Commissioners approved an order for a new county ambulance at their meeting last Wednesday, Feb. 26.
The board also decided to split the cost of cabinetry/furnishings for the office and conference room at the new Boone County Agriculture and Education Center.
The replacement ambulance will be ordered from Danko Emergency Equipment Co., Snyder, at a cost of $238,420. It will be a 2020 Ford F-450 chassis and new patient compartment, and will include a power load cot, as well as graphics for the ambulance.
The board also reviewed a proposal from Arrow Ambulances of Rock Rapids, IA.
The current county ambulance is five years old with over 50,000 miles on it.
Delivery of the new unit is expected in seven to nine months.
Cabinets/Furnishings
The board continued a discussion from Feb. 18 on cabinets and furnishings for the new offices and conference room of the Ag and Education Center.
The UNL Extension office will be moving from the courthouse into the new building when it is completed. It was decided that existing cabinets and furnishings in the Extension office will be used in the three offices and storage room at the new location.
Commissioners voted to approve the quotes totaling $29,376 for cabinets and furnishings from Mark’s Custom Woodworking, with half cost of $14,688 to be paid by the county and half by Boone County Agricultural Center, Inc.
The quotes included $5,748 for the meeting/conference room, and $23,628 for the office/reception area furnishings.
