City planning board approves closure of Fuller Street block

A one-block section of Fuller Street, south of Boone County Health Center, was recommended for closing to allow for the hospital expansion project
Albion Planning Commission recommended vacating a full block of Fuller Street for the Boone County Health Center addition during its regular meeting Monday night, April 6.
In 2018, the city had approved closure of a portion of Fuller Street between Seventh and Eighth Streets for the hospital expansion. However, the building plan has been revised and the project now requires closure of the full block.
Andrew Devine, city administrator, said there are no apparent access issues due to the project, and he recommended approval. After reviewing the plan, the commission members unanimously approved a recommended vacation of the street.
Dave and Lisa Skillstad held a pre-application conference with the planning board to discuss a possible replat of property on the south side of Fairview Street near the First and Fairview intersection. No action was taken because this was an information meeting only.
