Boone County has first COVID-19 cases

East Central District Health Department (ECDHD) reported the first two cases of COVID-19 were confirmed in Boone County over the past weekend.
ECDHD announced the first case on Friday, May 1, and the second case on Sunday, May 3.
The first case involved a Boone County resident who works in another county in the ECDHD district.
“The Boone County resident and their household members had been staying home and social distancing weeks before symptoms began,” stated the ECDHD news release. “There were no community exposures associated with this case and no evidence of community spread in Boone County.”
The second Boone County case “is believed to be community spread; no clear transmission source has been identified,” stated the ECDHD release.
