Albion City Council hires Allgood as public works coordinator

Albion City Council took action Tuesday night, May 12, to appoint Aaron Allgood to a new position as the city’s public works coordinator.
Allgood began working for the city in June 2019, when he was hired as public works trainee and began training to perform duties in each city department.
The public works coordinator position was posted internally, and three candidates submitted letters of interest to Mayor Jim Jarecki for recommendation.
The hiring was on the agenda for the council’s April meeting, but was tabled at that time.
The council held a short closed session before approving Allgood’s application. In this position, he will coordinate the various activities of the city’s public works personnel.
The city is now advertising the position of public works maintenance operator, and that position could include duties involving maintenance and operation in the city streets, parks, sewer and water systems. Applications for this position are due by May 27.
