Commissioners talk bridge, road repairs

A section of the Pilot Knob Road bridge was washed out by flooding in 2019. Possible repair was discussed at the June 29 commissioners meeting.
Road and bridge projects were the main topic for Boone County Commissioners at their regular meeting Monday, June 29.
They met with Stacey Ziemba, county highway superintendent, and Brian McDonald, engineer with JEO Consulting Group, to review and accept bids from A & R Construction, Plainview, on two bridge replacement projects:
• Project C6(393) is replacement of a bridge on 150th Street, east of 330th Avenue, east of Petersburg. Successful bid was $208,352.
• Project 181199 is replacement of a smaller bridge east of Raeville on 260th Avenue. Successful bid was $139,833.
A bridge connecting the City of St. Edward with the St. Edward sewage treatment lagoon has been recently completed.
Among the other pending projects discussed were the Pilot Knot Road bridge, the Cedar Rapids Northwest bridge (now in progress), and a bridge repair south of St. Edward.
The board also discussed asphalt road repairs in the Albion area.
