Commissioners approve payments on new building

With construction nearing completion on the new Boone County Agriculture and Education Center, county commissioners approved progress payments Monday for both the general contractor and the project architect.
A payment of $268,948 was approved for Rathman Manning Construction Co. This was not a final payment, because $50,000 is being reserved until the final punch list items are completed.
A final payment of $15,796 was approved for the building architect, Joseph R. Hewgley & Associates, Inc.
So far, payments to the contractor have totaled $2,985,006, and payments to the architect have totaled $214,276.
Lease Agreement
Details of the Ag and Education Center lease agreement between the county and the Agricultural Society were also discussed with members of the building committee. The agreement covers responsibility for utilities, maintenance and repairs, insurance coverage and other costs.
The detailed agreement is necessary for a potential grant award.
