Planning committee for the Boone Beginnings Early Childhood and Family Development Center is reviewing bids from general contractors this week.
Bids were received from four general contractors on Aug. 20, and all four were very close, according ot Jay Wolf, committee treasurer.
“Although the bids are higher than we had hoped, we are working with the bidders to find ways to lower costs while maintaining quality and meeting our goals,” said Wolf.
Parts of the contract can be eliminated or delayed without material negative consequences. Contractors also have ideas for alternative materials and construction design that can economize without compromising quality. Another meeting of the committee is planned this week.
