After winning the O’Neill Invitational championship to begin the 2020 high school girls golf season, the Boone Central Cardinals continued their early success with a dual victory at Fullerton Friday.
Boone Central defeated host Fullerton 203-228 in varsity play, as Cardinal senior Abby Brodersen fired a 39 on the nine-hole Pawnee Hills Golf Course layout.
“It was really good to get everyone out on the course for the dual. I saw so many positive things happening across our entire team,” Cardinal Coach Amy Ahlers commented. “It definitely wasn’t easy out there; the greens were quick and the pin placements were tough.
“I’m proud of the way each of them took it one hole at a time and stayed patient with themselves. We’re off to a solid start.”
Ahlers noted that Taylor Beierman, a medalist at O’Neill, missed Friday’s dual with an injury.
“We’re hoping to have her back very soon,” Ahlers said.
Brodersen posted the low score of the day and was joined in Card team scoring by Emmah Benson (2nd, 50), Rachel Malander (5th, 56) and Kaylee Krohn (7th, 58). Lauren Kohtz shot 59 in varsity play.
