Commissioners discuss removal of old fairgrounds building

Removal of the former livestock building on the Boone County Fairgrounds was one of the topics discussed by county commissioners during their meeting last Wednesday, Aug. 26.
The wooden building contains pens for sheep, goats and swine, and is located west of the old livestock arena in the central part of the fairgrounds.
Chuck Rolf, representing the County Ag Society, was present for the discussion. The building contains some panels/gates that could be salvaged for other uses. Consensus of the commissioners was to wait until Oct. 31 to allow time for the panels to be removed and the building advertised for removal.
If an arrangement cannot be made to remove the building intact, it would be demolished.
At their Aug. 17 meeting, the board approved a quote of $2,800 from Seda Land Handling to remove and dispose of the concrete portions of the building.
