Cardinal gridders back to even with win

Opportunistic Boone Central got the jump on host Minden Friday night, then methodically secured its first victory of the 2020 high school football season.
The Cardinals pilfered three Minden passes in the first half, helping Boone Central build a 22-0 advantage that eventually led to a 29-13 victory. Although Boone Central missed some additional scoring opportunities and was outgained in yardage by the hosts, the Cardinals controlled play for the most part.
Cardinal Coach Mark Hudson was pleased to get the win against an opponent that was difficult to prepare for.
“We didn’t know anything about Minden since it was their first game. Their returning starters were better and had spent time in the weight room,” Hudson noted. “We were in good position on some interceptions, one leading to a pick six, and played solid on both sides of the ball in the first half.
