After falling to 0-3 with a 3-0 loss to visiting Guardian Angels Central Catholic Thursday, Boone Central bounced back to win two of three volleyball matches in the annual Boone Central Invitational Saturday in Albion.
The Cardinals had a slow start, losing a 2-1 decision to Oakland-Craig, then topped Tekamah-Herman 2-0 and Stanton 2-1 to finish their day.
“Although we didn’t start the season off on the right track, we made great strides this weekend in our home tournament,” Card Coach Jordynn Luettel acknowledged. “The girls showed up to compete. We had some great defensive plays that kept us in rallies, and our front row players really stepped up when needed.
“We aren’t where we need to be yet, but we took a big step in the right direction and need to keep pushing forward from here.”
