School Board gets recommendation not to offer baseball

Boone Central School Board received a recommendation not to offer a boys baseball program “at this time” during its meeting Monday night, Oct. 12.
The program has been under study since the board received a formal request in August to offer it.
Board President Tim Stopak read a statement on the matter at the beginning of the meeting, recapping a study of the program by the board’s co-op committee and Activities Director Jon Perone, along with other staff.
The study explored issues, including financial impact and sustainability of the program, co-oping with an existing program at another school (Twin River) or starting a separate program, travel times, practice and game schedules and many others.
