Early snowfall was scenic, but caused some tree damage

A view of snow-laden trees Sunday morning in Albion’s residential area.
More than three inches of heavy wet snow blanketed the Albion area early Sunday morning, Oct. 18.
The snow provided some postcard scenery, but it put a heavy load on local trees and broke branches. Many of the local trees had not yet lost their leaves.
This was the first slowdown of harvest in the area. Soybean harvest was virtually complete, while corn harvest was estimated at 50 to 70 percent complete in the Boone County area.
