Write-in filings becoming bigger factor in school, city races

Over the past three weeks, write-in candidate filings have become a factor in general election races for Boone Central School Board, Albion City Council, St. Edward City Council and St. Edward School Board.
As of Monday afternoon, Oct. 19, a total of 10 candidates had filed with the Boone County Clerk as official write-in candidates for various offices in the Nov. 3 general election. The names of these write-in candidates do not appear on the ballot, but they can be elected if they receive enough valid write-in votes.
General election ballots went out to voters last Wednesday, Oct. 14.
