Three Boone Central Cardinals were selected for the 2020 Mid-State All-Conference softball team in recent voting by league coaches.
On top of the good news for the honored players, better news for Boone Central – two of the three will return next fall.
Senior Claire Choat, and juniors Madisyn Cunningham and Ashtyn Hedlund joined 10 other athletes as Mid-State All-Conference selections for their performances this past season.
Cunningham was Boone Central’s most dynamic and consistent offensive performer in 2020. She topped the Cardinals in batting average (.423), hits (30), RBI (31), doubles (9), triples (6) and home runs (6), and was third in runs scored (20).
Choat, along with handling key duties behind the plate for Boone Central, was also among the team leaders in batting average (.378), hits (28), runs (16), RBI (13), doubles (7) and stolen bases (6).
Hedlund was a two-way standout at the plate and on the mound. Offensively, she was among Card leaders in average (.322), hits (19), runs (17), doubles (7) and home runs (4). Pitching, she compiled a 6-8 record and 6.49 ERA, leading the team in appearances (18), starts (12), complete games (6) and strikeouts (85).
