Ordinances setting new zoning and subdivision regulations for the City of Albion gained final approval from the Albion City Council at its regular meeting last Tuesday night, Jan. 12.
These documents accompany the city’s 20-year comprehensive plan that was adopted by the council in December.
The council had approved first reading of the ordinances last month. At the January meeting, the council suspended rules requiring three readings of the ordinances on separate dates, and unanimously approved final adoption.
The city zoning regulations contain requirements and specifications for various types of structures, setback requirements, sign regulations and more.
The 30-page subdivision ordinance sets rules for orderly development and expansion of the community, including street layouts and requirements, open spaces, required facilities and utilities in coordination with the city’s transportation, land use and capital facilities plan.
