Boone County area well represented at State Speech Championships

Boone Central state qualifiers, medalists and coaches.
Boone County area was well represented at the Nebraska State High School Speech Championships in Kearney.
Boone Central placed third in Class C-1 with medal winners in five events.
Cardinal state medalists were Julia Nore and Gage Groeteke, state runners-up in duet acting; Rachel Malander, second in informative speaking and third in extemporaneous speaking; Jonny Lindgren, third in poetry; and the “Men in Boats” oral interpretation of drama team with fourth place medals at state. OID team members are Claire Weidner, Seth Wright, Caleb Kohl, Serena Henry and Tessa Hamling.
Riverside High School placed third in Class D-2 with three medalists. Molly Carraher paced Riverside by winning the D2 championship in informative speaking.
Beau Hawn placed second in humorous speaking, and Emma Rankin placed fourth in persuasive speaking.
St. Edward was fourth in D-2 with only three team members competing. Two members had to stay home due to a COVID outbreak. Earning third place medals for the Beavers were Grace Tibor in poetry, Maddie Reeves in humorous prose, and Payton Fitcher in serious prose.
