Area farmers back in the fields

With warmer weather this week, many area farmers were back in the fields planting corn and soybeans.
Soil temperatures were still a little cool in the 40s on Monday morning, and planting is running a bit later than average across the state.
As of April 25, about six percent of the corn crop and three percent of soybeans were planted in Nebraska, according to USDA’s National Ag Statistics Service.
Commodity prices early this week were reached their highest levels since 2012.
