Tina Thiele-Blecher to be new principal at St. Michael’s

St. Michael’s Catholic School in Albion recently announced the hiring of a new elementary principal.
Tina Thiele-Blecher of Elgin, a 13-year veteran teacher at Elgin Public and EPPJ head volleyball coach, is the new principal of the PreK-8 Catholic school.
Thiele-Blecher will replace Lisa Schumacher of Petersburg who will take over for the retiring Betty Getzfred as a new principal and administrator for Pope John XXIII and St. Boniface Catholic Schools.
Mrs. Blecher grew up in the Clearwater area and graduated from high school there in 1998. She went on to earn her bachelor’s degree in elementary education from Wayne State College, where she also played softball one year. She earned a master’s degree in curriculum and instruction from Doane College in 2008, and her elementary principal’s endorsement from Wayne State in 2014.
She was a teacher and coach at Clearwater Public School, 2002-2008, and at Elgin Public School, 2008 to 2021.
