New COVID case count at ‘zero’ in Boone County

For the first time in more than a year, the count of active COVID-19 cases in Boone County had reached “zero” as of Monday, May 17.
Case numbers have been declining for more than a month in area counties as the number of vaccinations increased.
Boone County reported its first COVID-19 case in May of 2020. The county has had 584 total positive COVID tests since the pandemic began. Six new cases were reported last week, but this week there are none, according to East Central District Health Department (ECDHD) and the Nebraska Department of Health and Human Services.
Also reporting no new COVID cases in the past 14 days are Greeley and Wheeler counties.
Antelope County had three new COVID cases in the past 14 days, with 535 cases since the pandemic began.
Nance County had two new cases in the past 14 days, with 414 total cases since the pandemic began.
Platte County had 13 new COVID cases in the past 14 days, and 4,147 cases since the pandemic began.
Madison County had nine new COVID cases in the past 14 days, with 4,297 total cases since the pandemic began.
Nebraska’s total case count stood at 222,612 as of Tuesday.
