A vacant lot on the east side of Fourth Street was being cleared last week in preparation for adding a new feature in Albion’s downtown area.
Albion Economic Development Corp. (AEDC) hired Chris Levander to clear the lot and prepare it for a concrete slab to be poured in the near future. Water and electric service will be brought to the site, and seating, lighting and decor items are to be added.
The site will be made available for various purposes, including dances, movie nights, art displays and food services.
Cornerstone Bank is a major contributor to the project.
The lot is owned by AEDC and has been vacant since an old store building was removed there in 2008.
