The Albion Cornerstone Legion Juniors ran their early-season record to 3-0 with a pair of dominant victories this past week.
The Albion Juniors easily handled visiting PWG (Palmer-Wolbach-Greeley) 13-0 in five innings June 2.
James Fogleman tripled home Luke Curry and scored on a wild pitch to spark a 2-0 start. Doubles by Keaton Hunt and Curry drove a three-run second, and Albion took a 9-0 lead in the third as Fogleman plated two more runs with a single. Sam Grape opened with two innings on the mound and earned the win, striking out five batters. Caden Stokes allowed PWG’s only hit in three scoreless innings, fanning three. Fogleman finished with two hits, two runs scored and three RBI, a hitting line matched by teammate Carsten Bird.
Cornerstone traveled to Neligh June 3 and blanked the hosts 12-0 in five innings. Singles and runs by Devon Luettel, Hunt and Bird broke a scoreless tie in the third, and Albion then pulled away with five in the fourth and four in the fifth.
Hunt got the pitching win, allowing a single hit and striking out 10 batters in four innings. Fogleman again shined at the plate with a double, a triple and four RBI. Luettel scored three times and Trent Patzel added two hits and two runs batted in.
The Albion Cornerstone Juniors play Twin River tonight (6:00) and St. Paul Friday (5:30) at Leon Nelson Memorial Field (Albion Sports Complex), then travel to PWG Sunday (Greeley, 4:30).
