Charles Edward Swerczek passed away Friday, July 1, 2021 at Lincoln. Chuck is survived by his wife of 47 years, Diane Swerczek of Lincoln, son Jason (Jennifer) Swerczek of Garland, daughter: Lynnette (Matthew) Nickell of Lincoln, 10 grandchildren: Jake, Julia, James, Charlie, Cheyanne, and William Swerczek, all of Garland, Lucas, Cooper, Brooklynn, and Molly Nickell, all of Lincoln, eight brothers: Donald (Mary) Swerczek of Omaha, Victor Swerczek of Albion, Anthony (Christine) Swerczek of Papillion, Laurence (Lori) Swerczek of Albion, Edwin (Monica) Swerczek of Cedar Rapids, Joseph (Kay) Swerczek of Belgrade, John Swerczek of Cedar Rapids and Lee Alan (Daisy) Swerczek of Hanahan, SC, five sisters: Catherine Longacre of Omaha, Gladys Choyeski of Cedar Rapids, Margaret “Maggie” Knight of Fountain, CO, Teresa (Bob) Pasonault of Columbus, and Monica Kavanaugh of Whiting, IA, as well as many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Dickie Swerczek and two sisters: Mary Swerczek and Jean Molt, and sister-in-law Lisa Swerczek.
A Mass of Christian Burial was held Wednesday, July 7, 2021 at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church in Cedar Rapids with Fr. Mark Tomasiewicz officiating. Military Rites were conducted by the U.S. Navy Funeral Honor Guard, Dan Cox American Legion Post 44 of Cedar Rapids and American Legion Riders. Interment was at the St. Anthony’s Catholic Cemetery in Cedar Rapids.
