Two point races down to wire as Boone County Raceway nears 2021 finish

One season point lead changed hands during a compact card at the Boone County Raceway Friday, July 30.
Two of the four season point battles remain razor close with two weeks of racing remaining, including the NAPA Auto & Truck Parts IMCA Late Model division.
Norfolk’s Chase Osborne (14) overtook and passed previous leader Cory Dumpert (77) of York Friday, placing third in the Late Model A Feature. Dumpert had a tough night at the Albion fairgrounds oval, finishing eighth in the feature race, and now trails Osborne by one point (298-297).
Just a single digit also separates the top drivers in the Sharp Plumbing & Repair IMCA Sport Modified class as second place James Roebuck (75) of Genoa won Friday’s A Feature in front of season leader Robbie Thome (1T) of Spalding. That cut Thome’s previous season edge in half.

The Boone County Raceway will conclude its regular season slate Friday, Aug. 6, and crown the 2021 season point champions Aug. 13 with Championship Night racing. Both cards will begin at 8 p.m.
