Fire fighters, EMS personnel hone skills at training session

Fire fighters and rescue personnel from eight area departments honed their skills in a variety of areas at the Mid-Nebraska Mutual Aid Association’s Mini Fire School held at the Albion Fire Station last Friday evening and Saturday, Aug. 20-21.
The four courses available were:
• Fire ground operations (live fire training) taught by Nebraska State Fire Marshal Training Division with instructors based from Broken Bow, Cairo, Chappell,  Holstein, Loup City, St. Paul.
• Grain bin operations taught by Central Valley Ag Emergency Response Rescue Team instructors Steve Wangler and Jeff Krebs.
• Motor vehicle accident extraction and patient packaging taught by Chris Warren of Central Community College, and
• Helicopter Landing Zone course taught by Apollo Med Flight personnel from Columbus.
Some 39 participants received instruction, including department members of Albion, Cedar Rapids, Columbus, Genoa, Humphrey, Newman Grove, Petersburg and St. Edward Fire & Rescue.
