Good progress made on area soybean harvest

Harvest activity near Primrose last weekend.
Fall harvest was well underway this week across most of Boone County as the soybean crop continued to ripen very quickly.
Soybean moisture content was mostly in the 10 to 13 percent range, with some as low as nine percent Monday.
Soybean harvest in the Boone County area was estimated at 30 percent complete as of Monday afternoon, with good yield reports. Some high moisture corn has also been harvested.
Statewide, about 17 percent of soybeans and 13 percent of the corn crop had been harvested by Sept. 27, according to USDA.
Field conditions were very dry, and several grass fires have been reported in the area during the past week.
