Museum to mark 50th anniversary in 2022

MUSEUM FACELIFT — Volunteers were building a new front facade for the Boone County Museum this week.
Boone County Historical Museum will be celebrating its 50th anniversary in 2022. The museum was built and dedicated in 1972.
A ground breaking for the new museum was held in May of 1972. Among the speakers were William Mundschenk and Rev. Lester Anderson of Albion, Herb Wise of Primrose, Pat Carey of Petersburg, Ray Gordon of Cedar Rapids, Charles Fleek of Loretto, and Dean Sparks and Arnold Norskov, Albion.
Anyone who would like to help with planning can contact a Historical Society board member.
A variety of activities will be included in the museum celebration next year, including opening of the time capsule in the spring of 2022 and sealing of a new time capsule.
The museum’s 2021 membership drive is now underway.
