Boone Central seeking to build momentum

Boone Central chalked up its second and third straight victories – and fifth in the last six games – as the Cardinals continue to build momentum for the upcoming Mid-State Conference tournament.
The Mid-State tournament brackets were announced this week. Boone Central was assigned the #5 seed and will face #4 Cedar Catholic Tuesday, Feb. 1, at Norfolk Catholic High School (7:45 p.m.).

Cardinals 69, Scotus 41
Visiting Scotus may have felt it ran into a pack of junkyard dogs Thursday. Boone Central unleashed frenzied full court pressure on the Shamrocks, keying a 69-41 blowout victory.
Making nine steals and forcing 16 turnovers that led directly to 21 points, Boone fashioned a 30-18 halftime lead and steadily pulled away following intermission.

Cardinals 72, Ord 50
Although it wasn’t perfect, according to Harris, Friday’s contest at Ord was another runaway by Boone Central. The Cardinals blitzed the hosts 29-10 in the first quarter and posted a 72-50 win that boosted their season mark to 10-6.
“We got off to the start we wanted. Then we played very inconsistently the rest of the night,” Harris stated. “We had spurts where we wouldn’t score, then score 10 points in two minutes. We also had 18 turnovers as Ord (3-13) switched between man (defense) and 2-3 zone.
“We need to play better and cut down mistakes on both ends of the floor with the conference tournament coming up.”
