Four champs lead Cards to Madison Invite runner-up finish

Boone Central had some impressive hardware to tote home from the Madison Invitational Friday.
Four Cardinals won gold in their weight classes and Boone finished runnerup in the event behind Lakeview.
Carson Wood (120), Gavin Dozler (132), Hank Hudson (195) and Dakota Rose (285) were the Card champions. Boone Central scored 218 team points, trailing Lakeview’s 242.5 total.
Card Coach Josh Majerus found positives and some negatives from the day’s actions.
“It’s always nice bringing home team hardware,” Majerus stated. “However, we had a tough day with good competition. I thought we threw a lot of matches away that we could have won or should have won.
“Lakeview is tough throughout its roster. I feel like we can compete with them, but they wrestled extremely well. We need to learn from this, as we face them this week in a dual. Winning that dual is an important factor in our chances of making state duals in February.”
