Boone boys into postseason off easy win

Host Crofton (5-15) kept Boone Central in sight through one quarter Friday, trailing 21-15.
But, with the Cardinals scoring efficiently and their defense picking up, Boone used a 22-7 extended run in the second period to pull away, and went on to post a 73-40 victory in the final regular season game of the 2021-22 season.
Alex Christo hit a pair of 3-pointers and scored eight points in the first quarter, combining offensive forces with senior post Garrett Rasmussen, who sank 5-of-6 free throws. Christo added two more long-range bombs in the second period surge, and the Cardinals also got 3-pointers from Carsten Bird, Braden Benes and Dustin Andreasen.
Rasmussen was a steady producer throughout the game, adding four points in the second and finishing with a seven-point fourth quarter. Christo added his fifth three in the final stanza and Kolton Rasmussen hit another, as Boone finished 9-of-19 beyond the arc.
“Overall, we did the things we needed to to win,” said Card Coach Justin Harris. “I thought we settled in defensively after the first quarter. We did a really good job of going inside and out, and shot free throws well, which is great moving forward.”
