Mid-State Conference honors four Cardinals for court achievements

Four Boone Central athletes were honored recently in 2022 Mid-State All-Conference voting by league basketball coaches.

Cardinal junior Alex Christo was a Mid-State All-Conference selection and senior Garrett Rasmussen received honorable mention.
Christo led Boone Central scorers with 12.3 points per game this past season. The versatile guard also averaged 3.9 rebounds, 3.1 assists and 1.8 steals per game while shooting 50.2% from 2-point field goal range, 35.5% from the 3-point arc and 66.7% at the free throw line.
Rasmussen, who has signed a Letter of Intent to play at Doane University, was Boone Central’s interior force, averaging 11.7 points and 7.5 rebounds per contest. Rasmussen was a 54.9% shooter from 2-point range and hit 65.1% of his free throws.

Boone Central senior Ashtyn Hedlund and junior Mara Ranslem both received 2022 Mid-State honorable mention.
Hedlund averaged a team-leading 10.2 points per game, along with 2.9 rebounds, 1.1 assists and 1.0 steal per game. She led the Cardinals at the foul line, sinking 76.2% of her free throws. An athletic, all-around performer, Ranslem averaged 7.1 points, 4.7 rebounds, 2.3 assists and 1.0 steals per contest in 2022.
