Missed opportunities for snow or rainfall are showing up for Greeley County and the western half of Boone County.
Those counties are part of a pocket of “extreme drought” identified by the U.S. Drought Monitor, and they mark the first time drought has reached extreme levels in Nebraska so far this calendar year.
The extreme drought area has been designated since March 15, and now includes most of Greeley County and portions of Boone, Wheeler, Valley and Howard counties.
