Albion United Methodist Church to celebrate 150 years

Albion United Methodist Church will commemorate its 150th anniversary on Sunday, April 24, with a special worship service followed by a dinner.
The history of Methodism goes back even further than 150 years, according to the church history research by the late June Bentley.
Boone County’s first Methodist minister was homesteader Samuel P. Bollman, a former teacher and licensed Methodist minister who came here from Pennsylvania with his son, Calvin.
Rev. Bollman preached in 1871 at various locations in the county. There was no church, parsonage or school in the county at the time. His preaching was conducted in the homes of the early settlers.
