A passing motorist noticed the smoke and called the fire into 911 at 2:14 p.m. No one was home at the time.
Albion Fire & Rescue responded with eight units and 19 personnel, and was on the scene for about four hours. Petersburg Fire Department assisted in mutual aid.
State Fire Marshal’s office investigated. The cause could not be pinpointed, but was believed to be electrical in nature, according to Fire Chief Bruce Benne.
