Cardinal 9th/10th graders strong at Pierce track/field

Boone Central track/field coach Susan Roberts noted she was pleased with the Cardinals’ performance in the Pierce Freshman/Sophomore Invitational April 26.
Along with individual athletes bringing home numerous medals, Boone Central finished fourth in both the girls and boys team standings.
The Cardinals had three gold medal performances. Jaden Hagemann won the 800 meter run with a strong 2:16.01 effort and Jaxon Lipker, while sitting out his varsity specialty (high jump), triumphed in the 110 meter hurdles (16.86) and placed second in the 300 meter hurdles (44.81). Avery Krohn topped 4’6 to score a victory in the high jump. Zander Jarecki was runner-up in both the 1600 meter run (5:49.91) and 3200 meter run (11:38.58) for the Card boys. Ava Buhlmann ran second in the 100 meter hurdles (17.77) and Elle Webster was runner-up in the pole vault (7’6).
Payton Sullivan placed third in the girls shot put (32’5), and Boone also scored third place finishes in two relays. The quartet of Averie Luettel, Madison Gompert, Claire Primrose and Linnea Nissen clocked 56.28 in the 4×100 meter relay, while Christyan Anderson, Nissen, Luettel and Buhlmann ran a 4:48.34 in the 4×400. Jose Luna took third place in the 100 meter dash (12.00).
