Newman Grove

Newman Grove named Tree City USA

In celebration of Arbor Day on April 29, Newman Grove Tree Board members delivered a book, activity pages and a tree sapling to school. Shown here are, l.-r., tree board members Janell Wyant, Bev Seier, Annette Bender, Joan Nelson, and third grader Conner Anderson receiving the book.
Newman Grove has been recognized as a 2021 Tree City USA by the Arbor Day Foundation due to their commitment to effective urban forestry management.
Newman Grove met the four requirements to achieve Tree City USA requirements, which are:
• forming a tree board or department;
• creating a tree-care ordinance;
• having an annual community forestry budget of at least $2 per capita, and
• holding an Arbor Day observance and proclamation.
The Tree City USA program is sponsored by the Arbor Day Foundation in partnership with the U.S. Forest Service and National Association of State Foresters.
