Maximino Juan Atencio, 48, of Spencer, IA, died unexpectedly on Tuesday, May 3, 2022 at Avera McKennan Hospital and University Health Center in Sioux Falls, SD. He is survived by his wife Katrina and five children: Aralynn, Roman, Pryce, Angelo and Victoria, his parents Cheryl (Eric) McDowell of Colorado, siblings: Tabitha (Scott) Stuhlmiller of St. Edward, Tony Atencio of Colorado, Chris (Allison) Atencio of South Carolina, Jacob Southern of Colorado, two step-sisters: April (Tim) Lamere of Colorado and Crystal (Don) Pierce of Lincoln, parents-in-law Leah Baker of Polk and Joseph Baker of St. Edward, along with many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, his father John Atencio, his brother Brandon Atencio in 2014, his grandparents-in-law Don and Eileen Baker and his dog Jaxon.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, May 10, 2022 at the United Methodist Church in St. Edward with Pastor Mick Goc officiating. Burial followed in the Evergreen Cemetery, St. Edward.
