Albion Council acts on new city position, AEDC building funds

Albion City Council held a special meeting Tuesday morning, June 28, to approve the new city position of Economic Development and Housing Program Director, and to approve the wage range for this position.
The new city job is part of Ordinance 314(22), which sets beginning, intermediate and maximum wage ranges for each city position and includes a step raise plan for the city jobs.
The Economic Development and Housing Program Director post will include a beginning wage of $20 per hour and a maximum wage of $32 per hour, according to the ordinance.
Passage of the ordinance opens the way for the city and AEDC to hire a full time person for this position.
City council members had been awaiting this ordinance before acting on a funding request from the Albion Economic Development Corp. (AEDC) to purchase a building at 127 South Fourth Street, and re-allocate city DTR matching funds to install concrete behind the downtown building.
The AEDC funding request to purchase the building at 127 South Fourth Street was approved by the council Tuesday morning.
