The Boone County Raceway capped another successful summer season with the hard-fought competition of Championship Night Friday, Aug. 5, at the fairgrounds oval in Albion.
Point races for the 2022 campaign were decided in IMCA Sport Modified, IMCA Stock Car, IMCA Hobby Stock and IMCA Late Model classes.
A pair of area drivers earned point championships. Ryan Fajman (3) of Albion placed seventh in Friday’s A Feature, holding off Neligh’s Jason Wilkinson (52), who ran sixth in the feature, and winning the Hobby Stock class 381-379. Robbie Thome of Spalding completed a dominant season in Sport Modified racing, winning the A Feature Friday and taking the season title by 16 points over runner-up David Johnson (97) of Columbus.
Cameron Wilkinson (5) finished seven points in front of Kyle Wilkinson (52) in a Stock Car class season battle between Neligh drivers. Cameron placed third in Friday’s A Feature, one spot ahead of Kyle.
Cory Dumpert (77) of Norfolk won the Late Model A Feature and nearly caught fellow Norfolk driver Chase Osborne (14) in the point race. Osborne ran tenth in Friday’s feature, just good enough to win the season championship 367-365.
Championship A Feature winners were Thome (Sport Modified), Tejay Mielke (77) of Norfolk (Stock Cars), Tristan Grape (14) of Columbus (Hobby Stock) and Dumpert (Late Model).
