Boone golfers vie at West Holt

With 2021 state tournament participant Taylor Beierman missing due to illness, the Boone Central girls golf team shuffled its lineup and finished sixth in the West Holt Invitational at Atkinson Thursday.
Boone posted a team score of 483 to finish behind O’Neill (399), Valentine (401), Pierce (412), Battle Creek (428) and host West Holt (447) in a tough 10-team field.
Kaylee Krohn was the Cardinals’ only medalist, shooting an 18-hole score of 106. O’Neill’s Kaylin Gaughenbaugh was the event champion with an impressive round of 79.
“Today was a tough day out there,” Card Coach Amy Ahlers noted after the meet. “We all ended up with a few big numbers on the scorecard we wish we could go back and do over. That being said, I’m proud of the way this group bounced back from the adversity thrown their way – they kept fighting!
“We’re going to find the positive takeaways from today and focus on those areas of improvement to be better next week.”
In addition to Krohn, Cardinal golfers competing were Cassidy Maricle (117), Emmah Benson (121), Britney Naber (139) and Kathryn Kohtz (147).
