Cardinal golfers host Boone Central Invite

The Cardinal girls golf program hosted the annual Boone Central Invitational Saturday for the only scheduled 2022 competition at the Albion Country Club.
The Cardinals placed a solid sixth in a very even and competitive field of teams with an 18-hole team total of 405. Wayne (384) won the tourney championship, seven strokes in front of Lakeview (391). Boone was just three strokes back of fifth-place O’Neill and four ahead of Fullerton in a tight team scoring battle.
Boone Central was paced by two Top 10 medalists. Taylor Beierman recorded an 18-hole 92 to place fifth and Kaylee Krohn tied for 10th with a 96. Completing Boone’s team score were Cassidy Maricle (T16, 101) and Kathryn Kohtz (T29, 108).
Cardinal Coach Amy Ahlers was very pleased with the Card efforts.
“It was so good to be out on our home course with all nine of our golfers!” Ahlers exclaimed. I’m really proud of each and every one of our players. As I said last week … they just keep getting better and better!
“The girls put together some solid rounds, showing so many glimmers of what they are truly capable of. Several players even posted personal bests! We have a lot of golf to play these next few weeks, and I’m excited to use this momentum to finish the season out strong.”
Additional Cardinals competing Saturday were Emmah Benson (T42, 116), Belle Brodersen (T48, 123), Britnay Naber (50, 126), Katie Lueken (56, 149) and Katelyn Krohn (59, 167).
