The overriding theme of Boone Central’s 2022 volleyball season continued this past week.
Hard effort. Competitive performance. More frustration and disappointment.
In three attempts to add a second win to the Cardinal ledger, Boone Central’s losing streak instead extended to 20 matches following a season-opening victory over West Point-Beemer.
Boone hosted a triangular with Mid-State Conference opponents Tuesday, Oct. 4, and had a great chance to snap the skid after rallying for a 25-23 victory over Wayne (4-20) in set one. In two final hard-fought sets, however, the Blue Devils eked out 25-23, 26-24 decisions for the overall win. Boone Central dropped a 25-18, 25-16 decision to Class C1 Top 10 Pierce (21-2) in the night’s finale. The Cards were limited to 19 kills.
Boone Central (1-20) got off to a slow start on Senior Night Thursday and could not complete a comeback effort in a 13-25, 17-25, 25-22, 15-25 loss to visiting West Holt (10-9).
