Bill Wieser receives Living Veteran Award

Bill Wieser, right, accepts an American Flag from, l.-r., Katie Score and Albion American Legion Commander Leon Magsamen at the Albion downtown mini-park last Friday. The flag will be flown in Wieser’s honor until Memorial Day 2023.
Life-long Albion resident Bill Wieser was named the recipient of Albion’s Living Veteran award during the Veterans Day program last Friday, Nov. 11, at the Boone Central Gym.
The award was presented by Katie Score, last year’s Living Auxiliary Member, who cited Wieser’s ongoing community service. He was active in both the American Legion Post 162 and the Veteran’s of Foreign Wars Post 736. He serves in the Honor Guard and works at the Veterans Club Sunday breakfasts. He also volunteers at the Misson Possible Store, especially helping to load boxes for the Orphan Grain Train.
Born June 18, 1942, Wieser graduated from Albion High School in 1961 and has lived in Albion all his life except for his military tour of duty.
